Mr. DeRosa's Math Bulletin Board

Hey Everyone,

It was great meeting all of you last night. I linked you to this page because Remind 101 is like Twitter in that it limits you to 140 characters, and I have more to say than that.

I hope last night was useful to you. Like I told you last night, this is the first time I am teaching this SAT review class. I want our time together to be as productive and as helpful to you as possible. The last thing I want you to think when we are all finished, is that it was wasted time.

That is why I sincerely would like your feedback about how things are going. On my way out, one student mentioned that I went too fast. I went fast because I know there is a lot to cover, and I want to get as much covered as possible. But I also want to know that the review is helping. It doesn't matter how much I cover if I go too fast for you to understand it. I will consider any honest and respectful feedback
that you care to give me.

I understand that there are different levels of ability in the room. I don't want to make it too easy so that anyone is bored, and I don't want to make it too hard for others, and have them not get any benefit from it. So I will try to slow down a bit. But I will also need you to speak up, and tell me when I need to slow down, if I need to repeat anything, or if I need to explain anything again. I'm there to help you.

Also, questions in class are very helpful to guide the discussion. If you don't ask questions, I'll assume you "get it" and move on. It's up to you to ask. Don't be shy. That's what we're there for.

That is why it is even more important that YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT ME TO COVER. I asked you to try to get through 3 of the practice tests (numbers 3,4 and 5) by our next meeting. I really need you to tell me which questions you want to discuss, and what topics I should focus on. I will give priority to topics that you tell me to cover. Please do it. Respond to the Remind Text and tell me what questions or topics you have trouble with. The more you do on your own, the more benefit you will get from the class.

I look forward to hearing from you.

See you on Thursday.
